Creole cottages with hipped roofs are found on many street corners in the French Quarter.

The cottage on the left has three casement doorways on the Bungundy Street side. The roof is slate covered and has no dormers. Notice how the window shutters are opened only for the top half of the double-hung windows. The lamp post is typical of those found in the French Quarter.

The cottage on the right is also a hipped roof structure. It is called the Audubon Room and is thought to be the location where famed naturalist painter John J Audubon completed his classic "Birds of America" series during his residency in New Orleans in 1821-1822.
